Product and Specification:

  • Working with water-borne, solvent borne and epoxy
  • Drying, curing and recoating
  • The effect of colour, design and contrast
  • Preventing common problems
  • Correcting common problems
  • Hazardous to health sheets, method statements and risk assessments

Preparation, application and removal:

  • Working with new surfaces
  • Working with pre-decorated surfaces
  • Removal of previous coatings and wall coverings with different methods
  • Traditional and modern methods of making good surfaces
  • Systems for metals, wood, plastic and factory finishes
  • Application of brush
  • Application of roller
  • Application of pressure roller
  • Spray application
  • Specialist decorative techniques - graining, marbling, gilding
  • Removal and application of wall coverings

  • Painter and Decorator Level 2
  • Block college release one week in four at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College Construction campus in Filton, Bristol
