Working alongside experienced gardeners and estate staff, you will develop practical horticultural skills across a varied private estate.

Duties will include:

  • Maintaining lawns, borders, beds and planted areas
  • Seasonal planting, pruning, weeding and mulching
  • Plant identification, propagation and cultivation
  • Vegetable growing and greenhouse work where appropriate
  • Assisting with irrigation, composting and general plant care
  • Supporting new planting schemes and garden development projects
  • Using and maintaining horticultural tools and equipment safely
  • Helping maintain the wider estate grounds to a high standard
  • Working safely and contributing positively as part of the estate team

Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative Level 2.

Where it leads

This apprenticeship is intended to provide a strong foundation for a long-term career in horticulture. The successful apprentice will gain experience across all aspects of estate horticulture.

About Rosalind & David Cleevely

Aston Hall is a private family estate in South Shropshire with extensive gardens, grounds and wider estate land. The estate is undergoing continued investment and enhancement, including new planting schemes, landscape improvements and ongoing garden development.

The successful apprentice will become part of a small, experienced estate team, gaining practical, hands-on experience across all aspects of horticulture, garden maintenance and estate management while studying towards a recognised Level 2 Horticulture apprenticeship.

Things to consider

This is a physically active outdoor role in all seasons. Aston Hall is located in a rural area near Craven Arms and applicants should ensure they are able to travel to and from the estate reliably.
