Once trained to use ride on mowing machinery the apprentice will be cutting fairways tees and banks. Raking and edging bunkers and generally making sure the golf course looks neat and tidy, using a variety of hand tools such as strimmers and hedge cutters.
Your training
Training will be delivered by Myerscough College where you will work towards the Level 2 Golf Greenkeeper Apprenticeship qualification.
Delivery is work-based using blended learning technologies on the employer’s premises. There is an expectation that 20% of the working week will be off the job training, which is a legal requirement.
Where it leads
Once qualified there may be an opportunity to stay at the golf club, or the successful candidate may wish to work abroad or elsewhere in the UK.
About Forest of Galtres Golf Club
We are a busy golf course situated just north of York. There is no public transport available to get to the golf club.
Things to consider
You will be expected to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
To ensure your application has the best chance of being considered for the vacancy you must provide information on all qualifications undertaken stating highest grades achieved in every subject, paying particular attention to Maths and English. Along with this you need to state any previous work experience.
