Apprentice Medical Receptionist

The role will include managing appointments and telephone enquiries, processing home visit requests, dealing with emails and administrative tasks, supporting referrals and medical correspondence, and assisting with patient records and Subject Access Requests. You will also help ensure the reception and clinical areas are well organised and support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
Administration:
- To work in accordance with written protocols.
- To have knowledge of all Practice Procedures.
- Deal with emails, tasks and other forms of communication.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipt for same.
- Ensure that requests are actioned in the appropriate time scale.
Reception:
- Process appointment requests from patients in person or via the telephone.
- Allocate home visit requests on the system ensuring patients are aware could be a GP/ Nurse Practitioner or Paramedic.
- Ensure Clinical rooms are set up and door signs added for the Clinician.
- Operation of the Telephone system, ensuring correct service throughout the day and night time service in operation in a evening.
- Ensure Reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
- All other Reception tasks as deemed appropriate.
Other tasks:
- Participate in Education and training.
- Adhere to health and safety practices and policies.
- Participate in a Annual Individual performance review.
- Ability to work without direct Supervision and effectively manage own time, workload and resources.
- An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Working with the Secretaries typing letters, processing referrals including 2ww referrals attaching all relevant documents.
- Working with the Admin Office learning how to summarise records, process online access requests, copying records for Subject Access Requests and completing reports.
Your training
The apprenticeship will be delivered in the workplace with monthly assessor visits.
