About Barlows (U.K.) Limited

The business started life in 1948 as a small electrical repair shop in the village of Malpas, Cheshire called T.C Barlow Electrical Contractor. Since the very early days lead by our founder Clifford Barlow, Barlows has grown into one of the UK's leading mechanical, electrical, fire and security service providers. Today we operate from our head office in Malpas, Cheshire alongside regional offices in Manchester, Leeds, London and Scotland, enabling us to deliver a comprehensive range of services to customers across the UK. In addition to our nationwide service operations, we continue to operate two high street appliance retail outlets in Whitchurch and Ellesmere, maintaining a strong connection to the communities where our business began.

Our company now employs more than 650 skilled professionals, supported by a fleet of over 550 vehicles, and generates an annual turnover more than £50 million. Despite our significant growth, we remain a 3rd Generation family-run business, committed to delivering exceptional customer care, technical expertise, and dependable service that have defined Barlows for more than 75 years.

Our board of directors have over 300 years of combined service at Barlows.

We are proud that our commitment to excellence, training, sustainability and community engagement has been recognised through numerous industry awards and accolades including David Barlow MBE being issued an MBE for services to electrical training. Recent achievements include winning a 2026 Princess Royal Training Award for our investment in skills development. As we look to the future, we remain focused on investing in our people, embracing innovation, supporting our communities, and delivering industry-leading services throughout the UK. We are proud of our heritage and excited to continue building our success for many years to come.
