Typical duties for the role:
- Provide clerical support to the Manager Deputy Manager and, when appropriate other staff, including word processing, photocopying, filing and maintaining personal records
- Welcome visitors, answering telephone calls, promoting a positive image and customer service approach
- Complete any administration duties for the Home
- Update Staff Training Files
- Book external Staff Training
- Attend staff meetings and staff training sessions as necessary
- Take the minutes at the Staff Meetings or other meetings as required
- Adhere to Home Policies and Procedures
- Book external activities
- Help produce Newsletters
- Social Media updates
- Update signage around the Home
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Good general level of education including GCSE Mathematics and English
- Concise and accurate record keeping skills
- Excellent listening and understanding skills
- Willing to undertake training and exams to complete the requirements for business administration apprentice standards (to level 3)
- Have a caring and empathetic nature

Your training
The apprentice is expected to log seven hours per week in off the job training. This will include monthly online training sessions with the tutor, monthly assessor workplace visits and time set aside in the workplace for self-study and coursework to complete their apprenticeship portfolio.
Where it leads
The administration role may be a gateway to further career opportunities, such as management or senior support roles.
The employer is looking to offer a permanent position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
