This is a fantastic opportunity to start a career in carpentry with a local business that undertakes a wide range of domestic projects. No two days are the same, offering plenty of variety and the chance to develop practical skills across different aspects of the trade. You'll gain hands-on experience working on home improvement and renovation projects while learning from skilled colleagues in a supportive environment.
Daily duties to include:
- Assisting with a variety of carpentry and home improvement projects
- Measuring, cutting and fitting timber materials
- Installing plasterboard to stud walls
- Supporting roofing carpentry work, including roof structures and repairs
- Assisting with kitchen fitting and installation
- Hanging and fitting internal and external doors
- Using and maintaining hand and power tools safely
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
- Loading, unloading and preparing materials for jobs
- Working both independently and as part of a team on domestic properties
This varied role is ideal for someone practical, hardworking and keen to learn a range of carpentry skills.
Your training
- You will be pursuing a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard in Carpentry and Joinery, through Weston College
- As part of this programme, you will attend Weston College once a week, for workshops
- An assessor will conduct on-site observations to evaluate your progress, as well as supporting you in college throughout your apprenticeship
- At the conclusion of your programme, your qualification will be assessed through an Apprenticeship Assessment

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, a permanent position with the company would be available for the right candidate.

Things to consider
You must be able to reliably travel to the team meeting point in BS23 2YF each morning. From there, the team will travel together to the work location, ensuring arrival for an 8:00am start each day.
