Work: As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Providing assistance to an Experienced Carpenter
  • Developing skills learned at ACE Training whilst working on site
  • Assisting with site Housekeeping Tasks

Where you’ll work:

  • Wantage or Didcot Site

Training:

  • An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisatio
  • At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying

Your training plan

A Carpentry Apprentice you will attend ACE 1 day a week, every week and you will complete:

  • A NVQ level 2
  • A Diploma Level 2
  • English and maths Functional Skills level 2 (Required if you did not pass GCSE or equivalent)
  • Apprenticeship Standard certificate in Site Carpentry

About Persimmon Homes Limited

Persimmon (Wessex) are looking to employ a Carpentry Apprentice who ideally has their own transport or be able to get to a site location in Didcot and/or Wantage. Applicants are required to attend college one day per week in Kidlington. You'll be learning how to properly handle materials, craft components and the correct means of measuring and fitting for a variety of house building wood works from timber frame erection through to doors and finishes. Ideally applicants will be hardworking and willing to learn.

This is a job that will require you to work inside and out in all weathers, be prepared to do anything required from tidying, sweeping, dealing with deliveries to working on carpentry skills. When on site we work as a team to get the job completed to the required standard and on time. You need to be someone who is proud of their work and can work effectively.
