You’ll be working both in the office and site-based activities that could include:

  • Site based environmental monitoring such as water and soil sampling
  • Site based support for our ground investigation projects
  • Preparing information and undertaking assessments to support environmental desk study appraisals and subsequent assessments
  • Environmental data entry and management, becoming familiar with industry data formats including software packages for the management of geotechnical and Geo-environmental data
  • Geological appraisal
  • Working individually (with supervision) or as part of a site team
  • Helping prepare factual reports

Your training

During your apprenticeship, we will provide a designated mentor to support you in your role & development and there will be opportunities to learn from the wider team which includes a range of technical experts in areas such as:

  • Ground investigatio
  • Logging of soils and rock
  • Environmental monitorin
  • Human health, controlled waters and gas risk assessmen
  • Desk studies and Preliminary Risk Assessment
  • Minerals appraisals
  • Coal mining risk assessments
  • Ground engineering appraisals
  • Waste classification and material reuse

Successful completion of this course will enable you to confidently advance in this industry. You could progress your skills further by training as a chartered geologist/scientist.
