What you’ll do at work:

  • Prepare the surgery, materials and instruments for each patient
  • Follow strict decontamination and sterilisation protocols
  • Safely dispose of clinical waste
  • Assist with and process dental radiographs
  • Update and maintain accurate patient medical histories
  • Follow all practice policies and procedures
  • Adhere to professional and ethical standards, including strict patient confidentiality

Your training

An apprenticeship includes regular training within the dental setting and remote teaching with Dentrain Professionals. Off-the-job training will follow the time allocations outlined in the occupational standard.

Where it leads

After qualification, you may progress into a full-time role as a Dental Nurse, with opportunities to further your career in areas such as radiography, oral health education, or practice management.
