- Apply sound civil engineering knowledge, principles and practical techniques to support the planning, design and construction of engineering projects
- Gather, interpret and evaluate technical data and information to inform engineering decisions, develop solutions and contribute to accurate civil engineering models and designs
- Use industry-standard digital tools, including CAD and BIM software, to produce, update and review technical drawings, 3D models and engineering information in line with recognised standards, conventions and terminology
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and welfare across all civil engineering activities, following relevant legislation, company procedures and risk management requirements
- Assist with the development, refinement and delivery of practical civil engineering solutions, ensuring that designs and technical outputs comply with applicable legislation, industry standards, specifications, codes of practice and project requirements
- Incorporate environmental responsibility and sustainability into engineering activities, identifying opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, minimise waste and resource consumption, and support more sustainable project outcomes
- Organise and manage your own workload effectively, delivering work to agreed quality, programme and cost requirements while considering client expectations, available resources and the wider impact of engineering decisions
- Work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, clients, contractors and other stakeholders, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the delivery of civil engineering projects
- Maintain accurate technical records and documentation, ensuring information is clear, consistent, traceable and suitable for use throughout the project lifecycle
- Continuously develop technical knowledge and professional skills, keeping up to date with changes in legislation, engineering standards, technology and best practice
Your training
The successful candidate will work towards a Level 4 Senior Civil Engineering Technician Qualification which will take 24 months plus End Point Assessment (EPA).
