As an Early Years Apprentice, you will contribute to a high quality caring environment for children.
This includes:
- Creating warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally
- Under supervision you will provide all aspects of care for children
- Assisting with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children
- Acting as key worker to a small group of children and recording observations and planning for them
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Being aware of the preschool's policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to
- Completing all work to desired timescales as set by Showcase Tutor
Your training
Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard:
- NCFE/CACHE Level 3 Standard for the Early Years Educator
- Functional Skills in English and maths at level 2 minimum (unless exempt)
- Paediatric First Aid
- Training completed via work-based visits at the preschool and 4 hours of study time provided for coursework
Where it leads
- Upon completing the level 3 qualification, you may be offered the opportunity for a full time role and further training
About Thorney Island Nursery
We are a Nursery located within Baker Barracks Thorney Island.
Thorney Island Nursery opened in January 2004 having previously operated as a crèche since 1987. The nursery is committee run and mainly serves army personnel and the local community.
We provide term time childcare for children aged 9 months to 5 years. Our nursery operates across two dedicated buildings.
The Baby room is designed for children aged 9 months to 2 years 6 months, this space features a self-contained, astro-turfed garden, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for our youngest attendees.
The Pre-school building caters for children aged from 2 years 6 months up to school age. This larger facility includes a spacious main room, a smaller room for focused activities, a snack room and a generous outdoor garden for various activities.
