Key Responsibilities and Duties

The Early Years Apprentice will support the work of the Mara Nursery room-based staff and will include:

  •  Working in partnership with the room staff to provide quality activities according to the age of children.
  • To safeguard and promote the safety and welfare of the children in the nursery.
  • To maintain and adhere to relevant codes of practice.
  • Make accurate and reflective observations based upon the individual needs, interests and stages of development of children.
  • To work according to Turtles Nursery values and policies.
  • To attend monthly staff meetings and receive training.
  • To be flexible within the working practices of the setting.
  • To respect confidentiality.
  • To develop your role as a key worker.
  • Specific childcare tasks- ensuring mealtimes are social, changing children as required, developing activities that are relevant to the age/stage of individual children.

 

 

Your training

Training will take place in the workplace, allowing the apprentice to learn in a real nursery environment. Additional teaching will be delivered on-site by a Development Coach, with sessions taking place once a month to support progress and development.

Where it leads

Once you have completed the Level 3 Early Years Apprenticeship, you will be offered a role as a full-time practitioner, and if you like can progress to complete L5.
