Role and Responsibilities:
- Install, service, repair and maintain food processing, packaging, slicing and baking equipment at customer sites.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and network-related faults.
- Provide excellent customer service, technical support and guidance on-site.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, colleagues and subcontractors.
- Record service work, repairs, parts used and equipment faults accurately.
- Ensure all site issues and customer queries are logged and communicated effectively.
- Manage van stock, tools, equipment and company vehicle to a high standard.
- Attend customer sites across the Birmingham region, with occasional travel to the Milton Keynes head office.
- Complete administrative tasks, reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow all Health & Safety, Quality Management and company procedures.
- Attend training courses and achieve relevant engineering qualifications.
- Support business growth by identifying service opportunities and assisting the Service Sales team.
- Work to company KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Take part in overtime, out-of-hours work and overnight stays when required.
- Carry out additional duties as requested by your line manager.
Your training
The apprenticeship will be delivered over 4 years through a mix of college learning at James Watt College and workplace training at Geo Engineering. In Year 1, the apprentice will attend college for 3 days per week on a day release model. In Year 2, this reduces to 1 day per week in college on a day release model. In Year 3, the focus moves to workplace development, with the Skills Coach/Assessor visiting the workplace. In Year 4, the apprentice continues workplace development and completes end-point assessment.
Academic training will take place: James Watt College
How often training will take place:

Year 2, 1 day per week in college on a day release model;
Year 3, workplace development with Skills Coach/Assessor visits;
Year 4, workplace development and end-point assessment.

With the support of experienced engineers and ongoing training, successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop their technical skills, gain industry-recognised qualifications and progress within the business.
As experience and knowledge grow, there may be opportunities to progress into more advanced engineering roles, such as Senior Field Service Engineer, Technical Specialist or other engineering positions across the company or within other companies
