  • To support, supervise and report issues relating to the learning and holistic development of individuals, or small groups of students, with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, under the direction of teaching and line management staff. To include (but is not limited to) on-course support (e.g. general in-lesson support related to their individual requirements, note taking, assistance with practical tasks etc); off-course support (e.g. supporting students to move safely, lunch duties, personal care, transport arrangements, appropriate first aid, encourage integration into college activities, etc.); residential and day trip support.
  •  Support and supervise the learning of individuals, or small groups of students.
  • Communication and reporting of any issues.
  • Assisting with skills development (in a variety of ways), practical tasks; health and safety issues; and utilising specialisms. 
    Identification of student needs and adaptation of learning materials to suit student needs.
  • Dealing with non-class time supervision and well-being related issues in or out of class (1:1 or in small groups as required).
  • Assisting with the development of student independence and their involvement in college activities.
  • To carry out all organisational and administrative work. To include (but not limited to) keeping records of student support provided e.g. daily logs, e-ilps, behaviour plans etc., under the direction of a line manager; to assist in the maintenance of stock, equipment and all other resources (includes HR related); to participate in the annual review and impact analysis of support provided.
  • Team and collaborative work, with colleagues’ college-wide, including use of e-ilps in monitoring progress of student targets.
  • Student and centre related record keeping and administration.
  • To undertake regular professional development. To include (but not limited to) participation in the College’s Probationary & Appraisal Procedures, regular and timely updates to mandatory training sessions, attendance at appropriate internal and external staff development sessions and courses.
  • All CPD related activities and meetings, both internal and external. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your training

Apprentices will attend City College Norwich (Ipswich Road Campus) for one day per week, for the duration of the Apprenticeship.

They will be able to apply for a permanent role as they arise.
