As a Formwork Carpenter Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced carpenters to learn how to construct, install, modify and dismantle temporary formwork systems used to shape reinforced concrete structures.

You will assist with measuring, cutting and assembling timber and proprietary formwork systems, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring all work is carried out safely and to the required quality standards.

You will gain practical experience on live construction projects while working towards your apprenticeship qualification.

Your training

Apprentices without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Where it leads

On completion of this apprenticeship, you can work as a qualified Junior Formworker where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior formwork position or work your way up to a foreman/supervisor position. With experience and drive, you could end up as a manager or even run your own company.

You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 2 qualification.
