As a Payroll Administrator Apprentice, you’ll support the team with a broad range of payroll and HR activities, such as:
- Support in the preparation and administration of the monthly payroll process.
- Enter and maintain employee information accurately within payroll and HR systems.
- Support with employee changes, including starters, leavers, promotions and salary updates.
- Check payroll information for accuracy before payroll is finalised.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation.
- Support time and attendance administration and reporting.
- Respond to payroll and HR queries from colleagues and managers.
- Escalate more complex queries to the appropriate team member.
- Help communicate payroll processes and important deadlines.
- Assist with pension schemes, auto-enrolment, employee benefits and payroll deductions.
- Produce routine reports and spreadsheets.
- Support payroll reconciliations, data analysis, audits and compliance checks.
- Help identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
- Contribute to payroll and HR projects when required.
You’ll also complete the requirements of your apprenticeship, attend training sessions and apply what you learn in the workplace. As your knowledge grows, you’ll develop an understanding of payroll processes, relevant legislation and industry best practice.
