  • Assist with the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of a variety of vehicles on-site and at customer locations.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to support accurate repairs.
  • Perform assembly and disassembly of vehicle components as required.
  • Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tyre replacements, and brake inspections.
  • Support with equipment repairs including welding and other fabrication tasks when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring safety standards are upheld at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and service needs.
  • Assist in heavy lifting tasks related to vehicle parts or equipment handling.
  • Contribute to the ongoing upkeep of mobile service units to ensure operational readiness.

Your training

This apprenticeship follows a block release programme. You will spend four weeks working with the RAC, followed by one week attending college. This pattern will continue throughout your apprenticeship.

Where it leads

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress into a permanent position with the RAC, continuing your career as a qualified Mobile Mechanic.
