Exeter City Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated apprentice to join its Licensing team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain a nationally recognised Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer qualification while developing valuable practical experience within a local authority environment.
You will learn from experienced colleagues while supporting a range of licensing, environmental health and regulatory activities. The role will allow you to develop your knowledge of legislation, compliance and enforcement while building your communication, organisation and professional skills.
What You Will Learn

- Support regulatory compliance and public protection activities.

- Use specialist software, databases and Microsoft Office applications.

- Receive ongoing support, mentoring and supervision from experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Regulatory Compliance Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting officers with Environmental Health and Licensing functions in line with legislation, Council policies and procedures.
- Supporting inspections, visits and investigations relating to licensing, environmental health and public protection.
- Assisting with licence applications, permits, registrations, service requests and complaints.
- Gathering, recording and maintaining accurate information and evidence.
- Responding professionally to enquiries from businesses, residents and partner agencies.
- Maintaining accurate records using specialist software systems and databases.
- Supporting the preparation of reports, correspondence and regulatory documentation.
- Developing an understanding of compliance monitoring, risk-based regulation and enforcement.
- Attending meetings, training sessions and professional development activities.
- Completing all required workplace learning and off-the-job training as part of the level 4 apprenticeship.
