As part of your apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience supporting a busy transport operation. Typical daily activities include:
- Assisting with planning and organising deliveries and collections across the UK
- Scheduling vehicle loads to maximise efficiency and customer service
- Managing trailer movements and helping ensure vehicles are available when needed
- Communicating with drivers, warehouse teams, customers and colleagues
- Monitoring delivery performance, vehicle utilisation and key operational targets
- Booking collection and delivery times with customers
- Updating Transport Management Systems (TMS) and maintaining accurate records
- Completing administrative tasks such as data entry and document management
- Attending operational meetings and contributing ideas for continuous improvement
- Following company procedures and health and safety requirements
Your training
The apprentice will join the Gregory Planner Academy with a structured learning plan starting from day 1. This is supported by onsite training with SP Training to gain a level 2 Transport Operator Apprenticeship.
Where it leads
Transport Planner initially with the potential to progress to Transport Operator in time.
