As part of your apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience supporting a busy transport operation. Typical daily activities include:

  • Assisting with planning and organising deliveries and collections across the UK
  • Scheduling vehicle loads to maximise efficiency and customer service
  • Managing trailer movements and helping ensure vehicles are available when needed
  • Communicating with drivers, warehouse teams, customers and colleagues
  • Monitoring delivery performance, vehicle utilisation and key operational targets
  • Booking collection and delivery times with customers
  • Updating Transport Management Systems (TMS) and maintaining accurate records
  • Completing administrative tasks such as data entry and document management
  • Attending operational meetings and contributing ideas for continuous improvement
  • Following company procedures and health and safety requirements

Your training

The apprentice will join the Gregory Planner Academy with a structured learning plan starting from day 1. This is supported by onsite training with SP Training to gain a level 2 Transport Operator Apprenticeship. 

Where it leads

Transport Planner initially with the potential to progress to Transport Operator in time.
