Northumbria University is looking for a detail-driven and proactive individual to join our Finance and Strategic Planning team as an AAT Apprentice. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic finance environment while earning a nationally recognised qualification.
As an integral part of our finance operations, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services across the University. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting accurate accounting transactions and monitoring the University's income, expenditure, and balance sheet
- Producing and distributing regular financial system reports to support decision-making
- Contributing to annual budget preparation, monitoring, and statutory accounts reporting
- Delivering exceptional customer service to colleagues and external stakeholders
Your training
This Level 3 programme builds the foundations for entry-level talent to support growth within an Accountancy and Finance function.
Employees on this apprenticeship will ensure an Accountancy and Finance practice performs in the most effective way. It includes the AATLevel 3 Diploma in Accounting and provides the opportunity for them to support the business with essential skills and behaviours to drive results.
You will learn how to prepare financial statements for Sole Traders and Partnerships, the importance of management accounting information, and how to prepare VAT returns. You’ll develop the technical skills to start, or progress, your career in accountancy, and this will allow you to continue with your studies onto Level 4.
To pass this level you will need to study the following four units:
- Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS).
- Management Accounting Techniques (MATS).
- Tax Processes for Business (TPFB).
- Business Awareness (BUAW).
Where it leads
- The role is initially 18-months fixed term, with the possibility of progressing onto the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting.
