Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers and senior technicians with the production of engineering drawings, 3D models and digital information
  • Develop practical skills in Revit MEP, AutoCAD and other digital engineering software
  • Create and amend 2D drawings, engineering layouts and BIM models
  • Assist with the coordination of mechanical and electrical building services within a BIM environment
  • Learn to create and modify Revit families, objects, tags, annotations, schedules and legends
  • Support the preparation and revision of drawing packages and project documentation
  • Apply company BIM standards, protocols and procedures
  • Work with Building Services Engineers to translate engineering requirements into accurate digital information
  • Assist with clash detection and coordination between services and disciplines
  • Maintain organised project files and digital information in accordance with company procedures
  • Develop an understanding of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance
  • Liaise professionally with colleagues, clients, contractors and other project team members
  • Attend site visits where appropriate to develop practical knowledge of building services and construction
  • Complete apprenticeship coursework, training and assessments within required timescales
  • Participate fully in mentoring, training and professional development
  • Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role and level of training

Your training

The training will be 1-2 days a month at the training providers premises in Yaxley.

The successful apprentice will receive hands-on training and support in:

  • Digital Engineering and BIM
  • Revit MEP and AutoCAD
  • Mechanical and electrical building services
  • 3D modelling and digital coordination
  • Technical drawing and Engineering documentation
  • BIM standards and protocols
  • Building Regulations and relevant British Standards
  • Construction processes and site practices
  • Quality assurance and document control
  • Professional communication and teamwork

You will work towards the relevant Digital Engineering Technician apprenticeship qualification, including the required off-the-job training and study.

Where it leads

The successful apprentice will be encouraged to build a long-term career within the company.

As experience and competence develop, progression opportunities may include:

  • Apprentice Digital Engineering Technician → Digital Engineering Technician → BIM/CAD
  • Technician → Senior Digital Engineering Technician / BIM Coordinator

Additional responsibility will be provided as skills and competence develop.
