Reception and Patient Services:
- Welcome patients and visitors to the practice in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with patient enquiries appropriately
- Book, cancel and rearrange appointments in accordance with practice procedures
- Assist patients with general queries and signpost them to appropriate services
- Register new patients and update patient details accurately
- Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately at all times
- Process requests for repeat prescriptions and other routine patient requests in line with practice procedures
- Maintain a clean, tidy and welcoming reception area
- Liaise with clinicians and other members of the practice team to support patient care
Administrative Duties:
- Carry out general office and administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the practice
- Enter and update information accurately on the practice computer system
- Scan, upload and file documents and correspondence
- Process incoming and outgoing post and electronic communications
- Assist with processing referrals, hospital correspondence and other clinical administration as directed
- Maintain accurate records and ensure information is filed appropriately
- Assist with practice audits, searches, QOF, reports and data collection when required
- Support the Practice Manager and other members of staff with day-to-day administrative tasks

Learning and Development:
- Attend apprenticeship training and complete all required coursework and assessments
- Develop an understanding of how a GP practice operates and the different roles within primary care
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions and supervision
- Follow practice policies and procedures and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care
- Develop knowledge of confidentiality, information governance, safeguarding, health and safety and data protection
- Take responsibility for personal learning and development and seek support when required
About Dr A P Hall & Partners
A GP apprentice will support patients, clinicians and the wider practice team by carrying out a combination of reception, administrative and general practice support duties. You will receive training and supervision and will gradually develop your knowledge, confidence and skills within a primary care environment.
