  • Initially observing in surgery and watching the decontamination process
  • Once a bit more confident the trainee will start to assist in surgery, helping our dentists and hygienists but always with guidance from a qualified nurse
  • Reception duties
  • Decontamination duties
  • Putting away dental stock and stocking shelves / surgeries as required

Your training

  • You will be working towards a Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship standard
  • You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
  • You will be required to attend Cornwall College Camborne or Cornwall College St Austell on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training

Where it leads

Once qualified as a dental nurse the trainee can follow a number of routes. Some progress to university to qualify as a dentist, hygienist or therapist. Others prefer to stay as a dental nurse and take further qualifications in sedation, radiography.
