- Support children with their daily routines, care and wellbeing
- Plan and take part in fun, age-appropriate activities
- Support children’s learning, development and independence
- Help create a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment
- Observe children and contribute to recording their progress
- Support children during meals, snack times and personal care
- Work as part of the nursery team and communicate with colleagues
- Follow EYFS, safeguarding, health and safety and nursery policies
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
- Take part in training, complete apprenticeship work and develop professional skills
Your training
Training will take place mainly in the workplace, allowing you to develop your skills through practical, on-the-job experience.
You will attend one online group Masterclass each month, where you will work through key areas of your apprenticeship and develop your knowledge and understanding.
You will also have regular one-to-one meetings with your dedicated Tutor/Skills Coach, normally once a month. These meetings will give you the opportunity to review your progress, discuss your learning, receive feedback and get support with your apprenticeship work.
Your Tutor/Skills Coach will be available throughout your apprenticeship to provide additional guidance and support whenever you need it.
All training and learning will contribute towards your off-the-job training requirement, helping you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to successfully complete your apprenticeship.

Our day nursery in Leicester City Centre is a respected and trusted day nursery, which has been supporting families for 40 years. The City Nursery provides consistency and a genuine desire to offer premium learning opportunities to young children, as they take their first steps towards education. We care for children from 2 years to school age with our dedicated and qualified staff in a nurturing and stimulating environment. Our nursery provides all children with carefully considered learning zones, innovative facilities and a spacious roof top garden to explore. We are wholly committed to the EYFS curriculum which is evident in all we do, teamed with a firm belief that each child is unique and can lead their own learning journey.
Learning is playful, fun, explorative and varied at The City Nursery an we offer a rich program of education and activity all day long from 8:00 - 16:45. We provide multiple opportunities each day for children to express their ideas, make links and ask questions as this self-led approach results in children being independent thinkers and problem solvers as they grow up.
