  • Meet and greet clients. Gowning up clients, showing them to their seats and informing their stylist they are ready
  • Offering and making refreshments, including making tea and coffee and serving cold drinks when required
  • Shampooing and washing off colours, applying conditioning treatments and rinsing off. Towel drying hair and showing the client back to her seat. Letting the stylist know she/he is ready
  • Keeping the Salon floor free from hair by sweeping and placing hair cuttings in the bin
  • Keeping the Salon clean and tidy throughout the day, including putting products away, magazines tidied, throwing disposable towels away and placing used towels in the basket provided
  • To change bin bags and recycle whenever they need to be
  • Put dustbins out if necessary
  • Removing cups and glasses, washing them up and putting them away
  • Answering the phone and booking appointments (training provided). Covering reception duties when unattended
  • Observing stylists working (this is an important part of your training)
  • Cleaning the Salon, kitchen and toilet facilities, A list of jobs will be provided for this
  • You may be asked to carry out duties not normally undertaken by you, to suit the needs of the business
  • You will be expected to attend college every Monday
  • You may be asked to attend specific training events either in the salon or at another venue
  • To be aware of health and safety issues and keep up with hazardous waste updates
  • To attend regular one to ones with the salon owner to discuss your progress

Your training

Work based learning with attendance one day per week at Hertford Regional College Ware campus to achieve VTCT Level 2 Diploma for hair Professionals. The Assessor will visit apprentice in the work place to carry out observations, professional discussions etc.

The salon has built up a great reputation since it opened in June 1990. Customer care is at the heart of all the services we offer, many of our customers have been attending the salon for over twenty years.

Most of the current staff have been at the salon for many years and are hugely experienced in all aspects of hairdressing. We offer a full range of services including, cut and finishing, styling, hi-lights, Great Lengths hair extensions, Brazilian blow dries, colour work, including colour correction and specialist bridal packages upon request.
