For a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant apprentice, normal daily tasks may include:

  • Serving and assisting customers
  • Receiving and checking prescriptions
  • Preparing and dispensing medicines under supervision
  • Ordering, receiving and storing stock
  • Checking stock levels and expiry dates
  • Labelling and packaging medicines
  • Giving advice on over-the-counter products
  • Handling payments and using pharmacy systems
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised pharmacy
  • Following health, safety and confidentiality procedures

1 day per month online learning delivered by a tutor

Where it leads

After completing the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant apprenticeship, an apprentice may progress into a qualified Pharmacy Assistant role and gain further experience. They may also have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship, subject to meeting the entry requirements.

J T Egginton Pharmacy is an established community pharmacy serving patients and customers in the Gornal and surrounding areas. As a Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprentice, you will become part of the pharmacy team and gain valuable practical experience in a busy community setting.

You will learn how to support customers, process prescriptions, manage stock, assist with the preparation and supply of medicines under supervision, and provide excellent customer service. You’ll also develop your knowledge of pharmacy procedures, health and safety, confidentiality and the wider role of a community pharmacy.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is friendly, reliable and keen to build a long-term career in pharmacy while working towards a recognised Level 2 qualification.
