As a Hairdressing Apprentice, you will support the salon team while developing the skills needed to become a qualified Hair Professional.

Duties will include:

  • Greeting clients and providing excellent customer service
  • Shampooing, conditioning and preparing clients for services
  • Assisting stylists with colouring, cutting and styling appointments
  • Maintaining high standards of salon cleanliness and presentation
  • Preparing equipment, products and workstations for treatments
  • Learning consultation techniques and client care skills
  • Supporting reception duties, including booking appointments
  • Promoting salon products and services
  • Following health, safety and hygiene procedures at all times
  • Attending in-house training sessions and practical workshops

Your training

The apprentice will work full-time at Wispers Hair Salon in Wickham while completing the Level 2 Hairdressing Professional Apprenticeship.

Training will include:

  • Practical, on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced salon professionals
  • Weekly in-house training sessions delivered by the Wispers team
  • One day per week attendance at Fareham, Southampton or Eastleigh College (location to be agreed)
  • Regular reviews and support from a dedicated Professional Trainer
  • Completion of a portfolio of evidence and preparation for End-Point Assessment

Where it leads

Upon successful completion, the apprentice may have the opportunity to continue developing their career within the salon and progress onto the Level 3 Advanced & Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship, subject to performance and business needs.
