The facility is packed with the latest equipment to develop the skills and knowledge of the apprentice. Daily tasks will include: 

  • Learn to carry out fault finding activities and undertake timely repair of equipment ; Presses, Robots, PLC’s, Electrical Control Systems, CNC machines, Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • Learn to undertake planned preventative maintenance activities on automated production facilities
  • Learn programming, fault diagnosis, servicing and repair of robots, rotary positioners, mig welding and resistance welding equipment
  • Learn to prepare technical reports to analyse breakdown causes and make recommendations on countermeasures
  • Learn to support equipment commissioning and installation projects
  • Maintain strict adherence to safe working practices and observe safety rules at all times
  • Follow manufacturer's technical manuals to help locate faults
  • Learn to use a range of testing instruments and tools to maintain and repair equipment
  • Learn to cover complex activities on plant equipment, PLC fault finding and reprogramming as well as identifying and resolving electrical and mechanical faults
  • To maintain high quality records of own learning as required by the training programme
  • To plan appropriate NVQ observations with provider to ensure timely completion of requirement for the programme

Your training

  • This is a Level 3 Mechatronics apprenticeship, delivered over a 30 month period.
  • The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, 2.5 days per week for the first 10 months, and the company for the rest of the time.
