- Assist experienced engineers with the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment
- Learn how to diagnose mechanical faults and support equipment breakdowns
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery and tooling
- Help calibrate and test production equipment to ensure it operates correctly
- Assist with fault finding and identifying the root causes of equipment issues
- Support the maintenance of engineering records, maintenance schedules and calibration certificates
- Learn how to use engineering software and maintenance systems, including SAP
- Help manage tooling, spare parts and engineering stock
Work with production teams to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently - Assist with process testing and record test results
Follow health and safety procedures and safe systems of work at all times - Work alongside experienced engineers to develop practical mechanical engineering skills while studying towards your apprenticeship qualification
Your training
- Training will be delivered by Train'd Up through a combination of remote learning, online workshops and regular workplace assessment visits
- You'll receive one-to-one support from a dedicated Skills Coach who will help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for your apprenticeship
- Training is typically delivered throughout your working week, allowing you to apply your learning directly in the workplace while working towards your nationally recognised qualification
Where it leads
- On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to progress into a permanent Support Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role
- You'll continue to develop your technical skills through further training and experience, with opportunities to specialise in areas such as maintenance, manufacturing engineering, reliability or continuous improvement, supporting a long-term career in engineering
