As an Apprentice Building Services Engineer, you'll join our CLCH engineering team and learn how to maintain the buildings and systems that healthcare environments depend on every day. Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you'll gain practical, hands-on experience while developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for a successful career in building services engineering.
No two days will be the same. Throughout your apprenticeship you'll have the opportunity to:
- Support the maintenance, inspection and repair of a wide range of building services systems, helping to keep healthcare facilities safe, compliant and fully operational
- Assist with planned preventative maintenance activities, learning how engineers proactively identify issues and maintain critical equipment before faults occur
- Work alongside qualified engineers to diagnose and resolve reactive maintenance issues, helping to restore services quickly and minimise disruption
- Gain experience working with building systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), water systems, lighting, power distribution and associated plant equipment
- Learn how to use digital maintenance systems to log completed work, record asset information and track maintenance schedules
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues, subcontractors and healthcare staff, delivering excellent customer service in a professional healthcare environment
- Follow Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) procedures at all times, ensuring safe working practices and supporting Mitie's commitment to sustainability and operational excellence
- Take part in regular training, mentoring and development activities designed to support your journey towards becoming a qualified Building Services Engineer
Your training
As part of this role, you'll complete the Level 3 Building Services Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with GLP Training.
Over the course of the programme, you'll combine real workplace experience with industry-recognised training, allowing you to develop the technical expertise needed for a rewarding career in engineering.
Your apprenticeship will include:
- Dedicated support from both Mitie and GLP Training throughout your learning journey
- Structured workplace development and mentoring from experienced engineers
- One-to-one reviews, coaching sessions and access to online learning resources
- Industry-recognised technical training aligned to the Building Services Engineering profession
- Block release training at GLP Training's Worcester training centre for two days every three months. Mitie will cover all travel and accommodation costs associated with attending these training sessions
- Alongside your apprenticeship provider, our dedicated Early Careers and Apprenticeship teams will support you every step of the way, helping you develop the skills, confidence and experience needed for a long-term career with Mitie

- A full UK driving licence, as this role includes the use of a Mitie company van
- If you are under 21 years old, you must hold a full, clean UK driving licence
- If you are aged 21 or over and have held your licence for at least 12 months, you must have no more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence
