- Assist chefs with food preparation and basic cooking tasks
- Wash, peel, chop and prepare ingredients
- Keep workstations clean, organised and sanitised
- Follow food hygiene and health and safety procedures
- Help with stock rotation and storage
- Check ingredients for freshness and quality
- Measure and portion ingredients correctly
- Prepare simple dishes under supervision
- Support different kitchen sections when required
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils and surfaces
- Receive and store food deliveries
- Learn recipes, cooking techniques and presentation skills
- Reduce food waste and report low stock
- Follow instructions from the head chef and senior chefs
- Work efficiently during busy service periods
Your training
Training will take place once per month at our Kitchen space in Hackney, as well as your e learning portfolio on BUD.
Where it leads
Progression to a full time Commis chef and potential to then move onto a Level 3 Chef de Partie.
