- Read and follow engineering drawings and instructions
- Measure and mark out materials accurately
- Use hand and power tools safely
- Prepare and assemble engineering components
- Fit and adjust mechanical parts
- Support the installation of equipment and components
- Check assemblies are correctly aligned and operating properly
- Identify and resolve basic fitting problems
- Carry out quality checks on completed work
- Keep tools and work areas clean, organised and safe
- Work alongside experienced engineers and develop practical fitting skills
Your training
Training will be delivered by Train’d Up alongside practical, hands-on learning in the workplace. The apprentice will receive regular training and support from their Train’d Up trainer while developing their skills alongside experienced engineers at Cooks Industrial Doors.
Where it leads
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to progress into a Fitter or Mechanical Fitter role. With further experience and training, progression could include Installation Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Senior Engineer positions, with opportunities to specialise in mechanical engineering, installation or maintenance.
