MPSE Instinct Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join their team as an Engineering Operative Apprentice.

This is a hands-on opportunity where you will work within the manufacturing environment, gaining experience in the production of mattresses while also developing engineering knowledge and practical maintenance skills.

Working alongside experienced members of the team, you will learn how manufacturing equipment operates and develop an understanding of how machinery is maintained to ensure production can continue safely and efficiently.

What You'll Be Doing

Your duties will include:

  • Supporting the day-to-day manufacture and production of mattresses
  • Working safely within a busy manufacturing environment
  • Learning how different machinery and equipment is used within the production process
  • Developing practical engineering skills through workplace experience
  • Supporting basic electrical maintenance activities under appropriate supervision
  • Assisting with identifying and reporting faults with machinery and equipment
  • Carrying out routine checks and assisting with preventative maintenance
  • Learning how to use engineering tools and equipment safely
  • Supporting engineers and experienced members of the team with maintenance tasks
  • Following engineering drawings, instructions and workplace procedures where required
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Following all company health and safety procedures
  • Working as part of a team to ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved
  • Completing apprenticeship training and developing your engineering knowledge and skills
  • The role will provide you with a combination of manufacturing, practical engineering and electrical maintenance experience, allowing you to develop a broad range of skills

Your training

The successful candidate will complete the Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard through Rochdale Training Association.

You will receive a combination of workplace training and off-the-job learning, developing practical engineering skills alongside your day-to-day role.

Training will cover areas including:

  • Engineering and manufacturing principles
  • Health and safety within an engineering environment
  • Engineering tools and equipment
  • Engineering operations and processes
  • Quality standards
  • Maintenance principles
  • Electrical engineering awareness
  • Fault finding and problem solving
  • Safe working practices

You will be supported by an experienced tutor throughout your apprenticeship.

Where it leads

This apprenticeship provides an excellent foundation for a long-term career within engineering, manufacturing and maintenance.

On successful completion of the level 2 apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to progress into a permanent engineering or manufacturing position with MPSE Instinct Ltd.

There may also be opportunities to progress onto a level 3 engineering apprenticeship or further engineering training, depending on performance, business requirements and the individual's career aspirations.

The company is offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the team as an Engineering Operative Apprentice. This is a hands-on role which will allow the successful candidate to gain valuable experience within a manufacturing environment while developing engineering skills alongside their apprenticeship training.

As well as being involved in the day-to-day production of mattresses, the apprentice will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and practical skills in electrical maintenance, helping to maintain and support the machinery and equipment used within the manufacturing process.
