We are looking for two motivated Welding Apprentices to join our engineering and fabrication team. This role is ideal for someone who is practical, reliable, keen to learn and interested in developing a long-term career in welding, fabrication, and engineering. The apprentice will work alongside experienced welders and engineers while completing structured training towards a recognised engineering operative level 2 (Welding pathway) qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and carry out welding processes such as MIG, MMA, or other approved welding methods
  • Assist with the fabrication, preparation, assembly, and repair of metal components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, job cards, measurements, and welding symbols
  • Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, drilling, marking out, and cleaning components before welding
  • Use workshop tools, machinery, and equipment safely under supervision
  • Complete welds in line with approved procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements
  • Inspect finished components for accuracy, quality, and defects
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area
  • Follow instructions from supervisors, mentors, and training providers
  • Keep accurate records of work completed as part of the apprenticeship programme

Your training

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry-specific competence. You will be expected to work towards a Level 2 Engineering Operative (Welding pathway) with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group
Training and training location to be confirmed.
